Buffering of Blood Plasma **

چکیده
pH = pK' + log Totalconc.-Acidconc. (3) Acid conc. where pK' is the pK' of the weak acid, Acid conc. is the concentration of the weak acid, and Total conc. is the concentration of the anion of the weak acid not only in the free dissociated form but also in the undissociated form as the acid. This equation contains the three variables, pH, Total conc., and Acid conc. If the Total conc. remains the same, and if the pH is held constant by adjustments of pCO2, then the Acid conc. is also not changed and there is no net participation of the buffer system. The millimoles of HC03must

The response of blood buffering capacity and H+ regulation to three types of recovery during repeated high-intensity endurance training
Background/aim: Many studies were shown the effect of type's recovery on performance. Active recovery has been reported by some to promote greater exercise capacity, while others have not confirmed these results. The aim of this study was to determine the effect of three types of recovery during repeated high-intensity endurance training on blood buffering capacity and H+ regulation. Desig...
متن کاملAcute effect of calcium lactate supplementation intake on the performance and buffering capacity of elite amateur boxing athletes
This study aimed to assess the effects of acute calcium lactate supplementation intake on the performance and buffering capacity of elite amateur boxing athletes. 8 elite amateur boxers (180±4.33 cm, 24.12±3.68 years, Weight categories: -75, -64, -69, +81) were assigned to acutely receive calcium lactate (0.5 g, 80 mg calcium lactate/kg body weight) and placebo in a double-blind crossover desig...
متن کاملModeling oxygen and carbon dioxide transport and exchange using a closed loop circulatory system.
The binding and buffering of O2 and CO2 in the blood influence their exchange in lung and tissues and their transport through the circulation. To investigate the binding and buffering effects, a model of blood-tissue gas exchange is used. The model accounts for hemoglobin saturation, the simultaneous binding of O2, CO2, H+, 2,3-DPG to hemoglobin, and temperature effects. Invertible Hill-type sa...
متن کاملEffects of External Acidification on the Blood Acid-base Status and Ion Concentrations of Lamprey
We studied the effects of acute external acidification on the acid-base status and plasma and red cell ion concentrations of lampreys. Mortality was observed within 24 h at pH5 and especially at pH4. The main reason for the high sensitivity of lampreys to acid water appears to be the large drop in blood pH: 0-6 and 0-8 units after 24 h at pH5 and pH4, respectively. The drop of plasma pH is much...

1. Blood properties of valley pocket gophers, Thomomys bottae, and laboratory rats, Ratfus norvegicus, were examined to determine blood buffering capabilities. 2. Hematocrit, plasma proteins and inorganic phosphate levels were not significantly different between these species. 3. Oxygen capacity of the pocket gophers, 23.1 vol%, was greater than that of the rats, 20.8 ~ 0 1 % . 4. Bicarbonate c...
متن کاملRecharging red blood cell surface by hemodialysis.
BACKGROUND Similar as in vascular endothelium the negatively charged glycocalyx of erythrocytes selectively buffers sodium. Loss of glycocalyx (i.e. loss of negative charges) leads to increased erythrocyte sodium sensitivity (ESS) quantified by a recently developed salt-blood-test (SBT). The hypothesis was tested whether a regular 4-hour hemodialysis (4h-HD) alters ESS. METHODS In 38 patients...
